Vanuatu

Known as the New Hebrides until independence in 1980, Vanuatu is made up of 83 islands with 160,000 inhabitants and 115 distinct indigenous cultures and languages, making it the world’s most diverse country on a per capita basis.  The spectacular active volcanoes, mountains blanketed by dense rain forest, and crystal clear waters make this country a nature lover’s paradise.

Topics of special interest include indigenous cultures, volcanology, and terrestrial and marine biology.
