Sustainable Tourism Scholarship

HPU Diana W. Lockwood Memorial Scholarship

Since 2000, this scholarship is given in memory of University alumna Diana Lockwood who was the founder of Pacific Islands Institute. It is awarded to undergraduate or graduate students from the Pacific regions: Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guam, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Rapa Nui, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu. The recipients are expected to return to their home country upon completion of their studies and apply what they have learned within their communities.

UH Hawaiʻi Studies Graduate Scholarship

“The mission of the Hawaiʻinuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge is to pursue, perpetuate, research, and revitalize all areas and forms of Hawaiian knowledge including its language, origins, history, arts, sciences, literature, religion, and education, its laws and society, its political, medicinal, and cultural practices, as well as all other forms of knowledge.” 

The Pacific Islands Institute Hawaiʻi Studies Graduate Scholarship is awarded to assist graduate students enrolled in the MA Program in Hawaiian Studies at the Hawai`inuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge.  

 Pacific Islands Institute is proud to recognize and support the importance of preserving the culture and traditions of the Native Hawaiian People.
