Cook Islands

The Cook Islands, a stunning paradise in the South Pacific, is made up of 15 islands spread over 770,000 square miles of ocean. Known for its crystal-clear lagoons, tranquil white-sand beaches, and vibrant coral reefs, it offers rich ecological opportunities. The islands boast a rich māori culture, with local traditions at the heart of daily life from education to collective land ownership. Rarotonga, the largest island and home to the capital of Avarua, and Aitutaki, a pseudo-atoll, are the most accessible islands and offer rich natural, cultural, and historical resources. The Cook Islands are self-governing in free association with New Zealand, with a laid-back atmosphere and warm, welcoming locals.

Topics of interest include māori culture, marine and terrestrial ecology, voyaging, and missionary history.
